Felting needles are a type of needle designed specifically for needle felting, a craft where wool fibers are tangled together to create a solid, non-woven fabric. Unlike sewing needles, felting needles have tiny barbs or notches along their shaft, which are essential for catching and interlinking wool fibers.

Felting Needles
These are Triangle felting needles- 4 gauges available. The gauge number refers to the diameter of the needle. As the number gets higher, the needle gets thinner.
36:This is a good choice if you are creating any type of 3D sculptures out of wool (eg: animals), more specifically a body of an animal or attaching wool pieces together. I would not recommend this needle for adding any sculpting details or wool painting.
38: This is a good place to start as a beginner looking to get into wool painting or fibre art sculpting. It will work for almost all middle to light fibres, however, not for heavy coarse ones. As a beginner, you will most likely not be using a very heavy wool so I would recommend this gauge to start.
40: This is a fine needle- the higher the gauge, the finer the needle. The finer the needle, the better for detail work and getting a neat surface. I prefer this gauge for starting my wool paintings and know it would work well for detail work on any 3D sculptures.
42: The finest needle for wool painting that is great for adding wisps of wool, adding fine hair/details to sculptures. I also use this gauge often when wool painting.
